Growing up, our founder battled with ridicule from her childhood right up to Junior High School (not through bullying or any form of harassment, but through “small talks” “jokes”, “mild shades”) etc*, most people made fun of her body feature which directly and greatly affected her self-esteem and appearance especially at social events. This had a major effect on her because it made her question her looks and appearance a lot, the only thing that brought her much joy and made her proud of herself was her love for bringing things into being and her creative skills. What couldn’t she do? She sewed, drew, read, wrote short stories, and many others. Though she excelled at these things, they still couldn’t make up for how she felt when invited to social gatherings or find herself among other people. This went on for a while until she decided to do something about this trouble of hers, she wanted to confidently show up at events and fall in love in whatever contributes to her appearance. There wasn’t much or anything she could do about her physical features, but she definitely knew she could do something about her low self-esteem and appearance.

Known for her nudge in creativity, Ama started making for herself some beautiful and bold accessories to complement her looks and give her the needed confidence boost. She fell in love with her unique pieces and so did others because, they fitted perfectly, came in different designs and colours that matched any outfit choice or colour theme. And oh, the compliments that came with it.  And there it began, from family members and friends wanting these beautiful, Ama decided to tell her story despite her fear and share her pieces with other women who feel the same way or even not but always want to make a statement with their appearance especially through their accessories, which led to the birth of CALYED Accessories.
